2020 is here and I’m ready to start this year with a full tank and engine! I am so pumped because after releasing my latest and emotional episode on my podcast The City Confessions, I have found a sense of clarity with my mission and purpose in life. I always share my personal goals on my blog because I love to use it as a means of accountability. Instead of writing New Years Resolutions, I have been setting monthly goals for the last two years and happy to be continuing it this year as well.

I love January because not only is it my birthday month, but because there’s a fresh energy that I feel when the year actually changes. I don’t think we need a new year to start a new chapter in our lives but it does make it easier. I have been doing  a lot of self reflection on everything that 2019 has taught me in my latest post and I have been doing a lot of goal setting and brainstorming with the intention that they will support my vision of where I want to be at the end of 2020. If you guys haven’t already done so, I would highly encourage you to jot down your goals because you’ll be amazed at how much focus this requires to manifest them into reality.

TOP THREE PERSONAL GOALS:
  1. Whole30: I am starting the Whole30 for the third time this January but I have to admit that I am really only doing the diet for 25 days since Chinese New Year is on the 25th and my birthday is on the 27th. If you guys don’t know what the Whole30 is, it’s  “actually an elimination-style eating plan that asks dieters to ban all soy, dairy, grains, alcohol, legumes, and added sugars from their diet for 30 days straight.” I haven’t been 100% strict with it and if I am going to be realistic, I don’t think I will for this time around since I will have social and professional obligations. However, I have acknowledged that and I will be trying my best to maintain this eating style at least 85% of the 25 days. My intention with this diet isn’t to lose weight but to use it to detox my body and to also challenge myself mentally and physically to eat whole foods.
  2. Duolingo: I have been inspired by my friend who teaches English in Barcelona to learn Spanish because she went from being basic in Spanish to being fluent within one year by taking Duolingo. I know a little bit of Spanish and I am comfortable with the language but I want to improve on my comprehension skills and most importantly, my speaking skills. I actually just signed up for Duolingo and have held myself accountable of taking lessons everyday for 20 minutes which I think is reasonable and doable!
  3. The City Confessions: I won’t be releasing season 3 of my podcast, The City Confessions until the end of January but that also means that I will need to prepare for it by researching new guests and scheduling the interviews. In addition to the podcast, I would like to also brainstorm new projects that I can do with brands to broaden my mission of sharing stories and connecting it back to my own story. I am excited for this specific goal because this combines my professional life and career with my passion and purpose in life.

Let’s start this year strong and let’s start it with some intense goal setting and goal getting! I know January can feel like a slow month because we are all recovering from the holidays but I think once you adopt a mentality of accomplishing your goals especially during the first few weeks of January, your motivation and drive can be your catalyst to moving at a consistent speed throughout 2020!

Writing down your goals is so good! Otherwise it’s indeed super hard to focus on them. Great goals you have 🙂 🙂

Loved reading this post. I love writing down my goals and if I share them with others it’s another layer of accountability, not to others but to myself and usually that’s the whole point. I’ll definitely have to check your podcast out, I love podcasts while I am getting ready for work and on my drive to work.

I love the idea of setting goals each month! Learning a new language is a great goal to have and I’ve heard a lot of good things about Duolingo. Have a great 2020!

January felt soooo slow, yet here we are in February! I might look into Duolingo too. There is a lot of Spanish spoken in Texas and I’d love to be able to speak it. Such a romantic language!

It’s also one of the easier languages!
