In fall, the days are getting shorter and chillier, but it’s such a time of the year that brings with it the most attractive natural cycle, the turning of leaves into other colors. All you need is to dress up warmly and grab a camera to visit these glorious spots in the USA. These are some of the best places to catch fall  foliage in the USA. 

Catskill Mountain, New York
 

The Catskills mountains offer some incredible opportunities to surround yourself with the temporary  brilliance of fall in southeastern New York state. Catskill waterfalls are always stunning, and it’s recommended to not miss the below places:

  • Catskill scenic trails 
  • Frick pond loop 
  • Buttermilk falls at Peekamoose 
  • Hunter Mountain fire tower
Stowe, Vermont 

This place is highly known as the nation’s best spot for seeing fall colors. Stowe, in northern Vermont offers the best fall foliage drives in USA. This place is always prepared to show off nature’s gifts with  special offers such as:

  • Rive and lake tour 
  • Winery tour 
  • Carriage and wagon rides 
  • Ghostly Lantern tours 
  • Gondola rides 

Vermont’s highest mountain and route 100 is an incredible scenic drive-in area. If you are willing to hike to the top to capture the fall, then Mount Mansfield supplies excellent views. Some famous areas for hiking include: 

  • Wiessner woods 
  • Kirchner woods 
  • Moss Glen falls 
  • Bingham falls 
Bar Harbor, Maine 

Bar Harbor is an appealing resort destination on Mount Desert Island, way up in the northeast across the Atlantic from Nova Scotia. It’s not only the best place in the USA, but one of the best places to visit in the fall in the world. You can travel out on the Bar Island Trail or take a walk along Frenchman Bay between the mansions and the Atlantic Ocean to see how the colors blend artistically. The other main  spots are:

  • Cadillac Mountain 
  • Tackle Graham Mountain 
Lenox, Massachusetts 

Lenox is a part of an entire region that is highly known for its fall colors. Apart from that, it serves as the  Massachusetts largest state forest. Lenox is one of the many cities in Berkshire. The Scenic Byway, with  a plethora of hiking trails, is an incredible viewing area of Mount Greylock and is regarded as having peak fall foliage in 2021. It’s easy to identify fall foliage hotspots in areas like Bash Bish Falls, which are rich  in natural beauties. The most famous places are: 

  • Bartholomew Cobble 
  • Woods pond
The Poconos, Pennsylvania 

The Poconos is surrounded by incredible natural beauty. It offers everything, ranging from fall foliage, train excursions air tours and vineyard tours. Near Lake Wallenpaupack, Route 507 is the way to go to experience the most scenic drive in the area. Bushkill Falls has four hiking routes leading to eight waterfalls, which also contributes to colorizing the beauty of the fall foliage. 

Taos, New Mexico 

Taos comes with beautiful vistas and creative ways to enjoy them by picking up around the Sangre de  Cristo mountains in New Mexico. Some interesting points to check out are:

  • Enchanted circle scenic byway 
  • The high road between Taos and Santa Fe 
  • Highway 64 
  • Cumbres 
  • Toltec scenic railroad 
Aspen, Colorado 

Aspen is a city named after deciduous trees. For viewing the golden Rockies, the Maroon Bells are a famous spot. It is also known for its best fall foliage drive. Some notable scenic drives are:

  • Maroon creek road 
  • Castle Creek Rd. 
  • Independence pass 

Furthermore, if you prefer to go out for a walk among the gorgeous scenery, you can check these places  as well: 

  • The cathedral lake 
  • American lake 
  • Hunter Creek 
  • Crater lake trails

People under-estimate the beauty of fall foliage until they actually see it. It’s stunning!

The Catskills are nice but tend to get crowded due to their proximity to the City. I prefer farther north, heading in a straight line up to the Adirondacks.
