The Marmara Park Avenue

I had a staycation at The Marmara Park Avenue hotel and had a lovely home away from home experience. Even though I’m a New Yorker and a local, it’s great sometimes to just unwind and getaway without actually leaving the city. The Marmara Park Avenue is situated right on 32nd street and Park Avenue and is located at a rather quiet, but easily accessible and convenient neighborhood.

Upon arrival, I was shocked by the gorgeous decor of the lobby. The archway and interior design is absolutely stunning and I was completely mesmerized by the natural light and welcoming ambiance. I really appreciated the cafe setting as well because as you can see from the photos, there is this gorgeous birds installation, which I thought added the perfect touch to the overall hotel vibe. I had just finished an insane, chaotic week and wanted to relax so I had a great feeling about my one night stay at The Marmara Park Avenue.

What really stood out to me was definitely the elegant design, which is clearly evident in the spacious lobby, unique artwork throughout the property, and furnished and luxurious rooms. I truly admired and appreciated the hotel’s careful attention to providing a elegant but comfortable setting. As a city girl myself, it was the perfect blend of what I was looking for in a staycation.

I can tell why The Marmara Park Avenue really pride itself on being a home away from home. Unlike most hotels that I’ve visited, the suite that I stayed at really resembled an apartment, so it gave me a familiar and tranquil vibe similar to what I would feel at home. Since this was a staycation for me, I really appreciated the full kitchen. Even though I didn’t cook, I did make some oatmeal after I settled into my studio. I also had my friend hang out with me at night and we enjoyed the latest episode of the Bachelor while sipping on some tea and enjoying our Trader Joe’s cheese platter.

The amazing amenities that are included in the rooms are:

  • King Size Bed
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Washer & Dryer
  • Family Friendly
  • Swimming Pool
  • Continental
  • Breakfast*
  • Valet Parking*
  • Full Kitchen
  • Flat Screen TV
  • Air Conditioned
  • Pet Friendly
  • Fitness Center
  • Business Center
  • Valet Dry Cleaning*

* Subject to additional charges.

I was lucky enough for the kind staff to also let me take some photos on the rooftop, which wasn’t currently open due to the weather. I have been at this hotel for an event before and knew that the rooftop view would give me a great snapshot with the Empire State Building and that’s something I knew I had to take advantage of. If you are following me on Instagram, then you would’ve seen the below photos, which you now know have been taken at The Marmara Park Avenue.

I also noticed they had an amazing Wellness Center and I made sure to utilize it because let’s be honest, a staycation isn’t really complete without pampering yourself!  Instead of swimming at the pool, I decided to try the Turkish Hammam because I was unfamiliar with this type of thermal spa treatment. I did google this beforehand and I knew that this would be quite an experience to say the least.

If you are not familiar with a Turkish Hamamm like me, then here is a brief overview of what it entails:

Experience the ancient tradition of the Turkish bath as a modern luxury, a natural way of detoxification. Turkish hammam is the home of the tradition of physical and spiritual purification. The body and skin are cleaned and purified from toxins, blood circulation increases and the immune system is stimulated so that the physical and mental system is supported with hammam.”

I started my treatment by entering the hot steam room, which was gorgeously decorated with marble stones from top to bottom. I began by laying on the marble table with a towel covering my body for about 15 minutes. This was necessary to get my body to not only relax, but for my muscles to loosen up as I soaked up the steam. Afterwards, my lead therapist Savas Cebeci, started to detoxify, cleanse and soothe me by exfoliating my body, scrubbing my dead skin and bathing me through a foam bath experience using a long piece of linen cloth.

I have to admit that I didn’t fully know what to expect even though I read about it online and I was a bit hesitant since you are basically naked during this treatment. However, I felt extremely comfortable throughout the whole process and could tell that my body truly needed it after a stressful week with travel and jetlag. I can’t really even describe how transformative this spa treatment was for me because this is really something you guys have to try for yourselves! I was completely relaxed after my hour treatment and I could see a huge difference in my skin’s texture as it was completely soft like a baby’s bottom 🙂

Moreover, I can tell that my body and mind left all its anxiety and stress on the marble table. When I started to trust the treatment and let my body go I was able to truly gain the benefits from the Turkish Hamamm. In case you are also wondering why this treatment is so common in Turkey, I’ve decided to share the benefits below.

10 BENEFITS OF A TURKISH HAMMAM:

  1. Decrease muscle tension
  2. Detoxify and rehydrate the skin
  3. Improve skin elasticity
  4. Enhance deep relaxation and mindfulness
  5. Reduce stress and anxiety
  6. Improves skin tone
  7. Improves sleep
  8. Get in tune with your body, mind and soul
  9. Open pores due to steam
  10. Increases circulation

I can confidently say that I experienced all of those benefits immediately after my treatment. I slept like a baby the night of my Turkish Hammam and could tell a drastic improvement in my skin and overall stress levels. This treatment is also rare in the city, so I highly recommend checking it out if you guys want to detoxify your body or just want to experience this for yourself!

Overall, my stay at The Marmara Park Avenue was exactly what I needed and more than I could ask for. I now have this listed as my go to getaway spot if I ever want to do another staycation in the city. I honestly have no complaints and I feel like one night truly isn’t enough to fully get what this amazing hotel has to offer. Next time, I’d love to stay for a whole weekend!

*I would like to thank The Marmara Park Avenue for hosting me and giving me such a lovely and memorable experience!
