SUMMER IN NYC GARMENT DISTRICT

There’s nothing I love more than spending summer in the city. As a native New Yorker, I crave the sunshine, being outdoors and of course eating and drinking with my friends and family! For both locals and tourists, the NYC Garment District is a great area and neighborhood to explore because it’s a hub for everything and anything that you can ask for. Situated right in the heart of midtown Manhattan, it’s easily accessible since there are tons of trains available.

I personally usually avoid midtown because the crowd is a bit too much for me, but I would travel to the Garment District specifically for the restaurants and bars. I don’t think you can come to NYC and not visit one of the rooftops because it’s truly an experience in itself. Since the sunsets pretty late as we are in the beginning of summer, I love to grab a drink or a bite at one of the amazing venues in the Garment District. My favorite one this year has to be Dear Irving on Hudson, which is located on the 40th & 41st floor inside the Aliz Hotel on 310 West 40th Street, New York NY 10018 Aliz Times Square Hotel.

It is not your typical NYC rooftop where you have drinks outside even though I like to do that as well. The vibe and atmosphere ofย Dear Irving is more intimate and cozy. Rain or shine, it’s a great venue to hang out with your friends or even have a date night because there is both outdoor and indoor seating. There are actually two bars here and sofas and cozy corners, so you can pick what type of vibe you are feeling. The outdoor area has these cool circular seatings, which makes for great photos and it overlooks the Manhattan skyline and you can even see the Empire State Building!ย  ย It’s definitely a classier place but I think it’s great to unwind after a long day or even a meeting place to start your night.

Their menu is “curated by bar director Meaghan Dorman and offers an Ode to The Empire State, which features an exploration of New York-made spirits.” Not only are the cocktails delicious, but the views through the transparent windows are unbeatable. The perfect time to come here would be 6-7 pm and stay until at least after the sunsets. I ordered the Vice Versaย and the Boulevardier and they were great but definitely on the stronger side! I thought I would only stay for an hour but ended up spending the evening here because I enjoyed the atmosphere that much.

Dear Irving is definitely a venue that I would add to my list if you haven’t been yet! I cannot rave enough about the Garment District and would highly recommend you all to explore this neighborhood. There are tons of restaurants and venues to choose from and it’s also where all the main tourist attractions are at so you know there’s something for everyone!
