Staycation at The Langham NYC

Dark Blue Handwritten Fathers Day Card 4

I have passed The Langham what seems to be a million times and I’ve always been fascinated by the exterior because there is a sense of luxury and invitation associated with the hotel. Maybe it’s because it’s located right on Fifth Avenue, the street where most people associate with designer brands and shopping. Or maybe it’s because it’s right by the Empire State Building and we all know that the Empire State Building is such an iconic attraction representing the beauty surrounding New York. Either way, I’ve always thought it would be an amazing experience to stay at The Langham and my wish was actually granted because they were so generous to host me for two nights and I cannot rave enough about my staycation!

HOTEL AT A GLANCE:
Historic museums, legendary attractions, celebrated entertainment, and award-winning dining establishments. There’s a reason why New York City is the city that never sleeps. Nestled in the city’s most coveted district, Midtown Manhattan, a limestone tower that soars 60 stories into the sky. Located between Bryant Park and the Empire State Building, discover sharp metropolitan style that embodies the dynamic spirit of the city.

I want to first talk about the hotel’s safety measures regarding COVID as I know there’s a lot of hesitancy when it comes to staying at hotels during these unprecedented times. The Langham, New York has taken the Stay Well NYC Pledge, a commitment to the everyday practices that will keep New York City healthy and safe as a community.  The hotel enforces the below safety protocols and you can read its full safety measures here.

  • Face coverings are to remain on at all times in the hotel’s public areas.
  •  Temperature screening is required to enter the hotel.
  • 6 feet of physical distance is required between individuals.
  • Center for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) hand washing and sanitation  guidelines should be followed.
  • Guest contact areas sanitized after each interaction (e.g. front desk)
  • High-touch areas throughout the hotel sanitized on a regular basis
  • Automated hand sanitizers located throughout the hotel
  • Contactless delivery of Private Kitchen (in room dining), if requested

There wasn’t a time where I felt like the staff wasn’t taking this seriously and it was nice to feel comfortable and at ease because comfort is everything to me especially when I’m spending time away from home.

I stayed at Junior Suite which offered amazing views of Fifth Avenue, Midtown Manhattan and The Empire State Building. The best part was going to sleep with the The Empire State Building lit up and waking up to the sun peeking right through the floor to ceiling windows. My spacious room had a soft king bed with a sitting area. There was also a desk and enough space that gave me the comforts of a residence, which was suitable for me as I also had some work and calls to take while I was there. For all my fashion lovers, you would be happy to know that my room also had a full walk-in, Italian designed wardrobe closet with glass-fronted, walnut drawers and it was a feature that I made a mental note of to have for my future home.

I was also pleasantly surprised to enter the large marble bathroom as it contained a rainfall shower, a deep soaking tub, a double vanity and television built into the bathroom mirror! And in case any of you were wondering, the lighting in the bathroom is the best for photos and was a great place to put on my makeup and get ready for the day. You can also pull up the shades to really soak in the view and to embrace the natural lighting.

One of my favorite things to do during vacations or staycations is having breakfast in bed! I definitely don’t do this when I’m at home so for me, it’s like a fun tradition that I look forward to the most. I ordered from their private dining menu and the process was smooth and easy. All of the food as you can imagined pictured from the above photos was delicious. There is something very satisfying about having a variety of breakfast food, wearing a hotel robe and eating it on the bed. I would like to mention that I had a friend join me so I didn’t eat all of the spread myself, but I would be lying if I said we didn’t make a mess, but I think that explains how much we both enjoyed the our breakfast in bed 🙂

SHOP & STAY WITH NORDSTROM AT THE LANGHAM

An exciting offer that The Langham is currently having is a shopping experience with Nordstrom.

With Shop & Stay with Nordstrom at The Langham you can experience personalized service at New York City’s most exciting new retail destination for all of your holiday shopping needs, Nordstrom New York; paired with luxurious accommodations at The Langham, New York. The package also includes a complimentary appetizer at one of Nordstrom New York’s exciting restaurants, and a $100 gift Nordstrom gift card.  *Valid for stays until December 31, 2020

I have shopped at Nordstrom several times, but I actually have never used their personal stylist shopping service, so it was something that I thought would be interesting to experience. My stylist Janine Heidt was amazing as she emailed me with questions prior to my appointment to get to know me a little more and to understand what I was looking for during my visit.

To be honest, I didn’t have anything specific in mind when I went to Nordstrom and I was open to not only shopping for myself, but shopping for those on my list. When I first arrived, I thought Janine would meet me on the main floor and we would browse the racks together. Little did I know, I was advised to go to the stylist lounge on the 3rd floor which made me feel very special. The lounge had racks of clothing that Janine picked out for me already. Everything was laid out perfectly and she gave me a run down of items that she thought would be appropriate for me as I mentioned that I am currently building my capsule wardrobe, that I am drawn to neutrals and I sometimes find it difficult to find pieces that fit me perfectly considering I am petite.

It was fun to play dress up as I tried on different pieces and outfits. I honestly wanted to buy everything Janine recommended, but I had to remind myself to not go overboard. Janine was beyond helpful and made me feel more knowledgable in my shopping experience and I learned that once you figure out your personal style and learn how to mix and match, it is easier to then dress yourself in garments and pieces that compliment you. I ended up buying a Reversible Faux Leather Tote & Wristlet, a white Ribbed Funnel Neck Cotton Top,  a cream Fleece & Faux Leather Moto Jacket and a Shirt Jacket from THREAD & SUPPLY. These are all pieces that I am confident will stay in my closet because Janine showed me different ways to wear them.

I was beyond happy with my experience and I highly encourage you all to experience a personal stylist appointment at least once in your life because it is a game changer!

*I would also like to mention that if you guys are interested in seeing Janine for an appointment (both in person or virtual), make sure you mention my name and you will receive a $50 Nordstrom Gift Card! You can email her Janine.Heidt@nordstrom.com.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I had an amazing staycation at The Langham and for a native New Yorker, I truly believe this luxurious hotel offers something that both natives and locals can enjoy. You can’t beat the location as it is situated right in the heart of NYC. It was easy for me to get to Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center and Columbus Circle by walking. I was able to get a sense of the holiday spirit and vibe, which is something I love about the city during this time, yet I was equally able to unwind and enjoy my alone time with just NYC. The Nordstrom shopping experience was an added bonus and I think it made this staycation even more special and unique. I can confidently say now that I have experienced The Langham, it will not be my last time staying here!

Oooh! Despite being in a pandemic, I am so happy that you got to enjoy some time outside of home at The Langham!! It is great that hotels are taking the extra measures to make sure they are safe. Their suite looks amazing! Pretty cool that they have a deal with Nordstrom right now too! Glad you enjoyed your time out there!
