UN-HINGED ONE MONTH RECAP

As most of you may know, my book Un-Hinged: What I Learned from Saying, “It’s You, It’s Not Me” in the NYC Dating Scene, came out in March.  And it’s been a whirlwind of a month! I was filled with love and support from my launch party. My emotions were intense and I felt everything on both sides of a spectrum from excitement to nervousness to pride to disappointment. But now that four weeks have passed, I can finally reflect on what I’ve learned. And though, I discovered many revelations, I don’t want to focus on the negative ones. All I have to say is that clarity presents itself especially when you reach the top of a mountain.

As humans, it is normal to reflect and think about what you could’ve done differently. I’ve never been the type to have regrets because I truly believe every experience is a learning one. Since my book launch, I have also released Un-Hinged in kindle format. Because I personally love reading physical books, I overlooked how many people actually read books digitally. But I realized that the more formats I make my book available, the more reach I can have. With that being said, I plan on releasing an audio book by summer!

It has been so great to see people post about my book on social media. I have also received great feedback and reviews and I am extremely grateful for them. When it comes to launching a book, word of mouth, publicity and marketing go a long way. So if you’re reading this and you do check out my book, know that I appreciate you. Even if you don’t read it, I do appreciate if you can share if you feel drawn to do so.

Since I went with hybrid publishing, people don’t know what I had to upfront money for this book. For me, becoming a bestseller or making a profit was never my intention. I wrote this book for me and I wanted to share my experiences and truth in the hopes that it would help someone else on their self discovery and quest for love journey. From the beginning, I let go of expectations especially when it came to numbers. Instead, I am choosing to focus on how many people I can inspire. And that’s one lesson I hope for you to all take away. Once you detach yourself from the outcome, you can then truly enjoy the journey and all the little and big present moments in between.

As I mentioned previously, this book is my baby. This journey is a marathon and not a sprint, so it’s going to be something that I will continuously talk about, write about and promote. I am reminding myself that I have to be my own cheerleader and I have to support myself every step of the way. By doing so, I am letting the universe and others know that I believe in myself and that’s the best trait to have in life.
