DECEMBER GOALS

Wow I honestly can’t believe it’s already December! I remember deciding to write monthly goals earlier this year starting in January and this process has been much easier to keep up with than I thought! I actually really enjoyed reflecting on everything that I’ve accomplished each month and reassessing my goals for the next month because it has made me get more in tune with what I want to achieve both short and long term.

Even though the holidays are fast approaching and it seems to be the busiest time of year, I also find it odd that this is also the month that I believe most of us slack off. When I worked a 9-5, I remembered that it was a slow time of the month and I barely received any client emails. However, I do want to end the year with a bang as they say!

My three goals for November were to network, wake up earlier and to limit my entertainment/ tv hours. I am extremely proud to claim that I have successfully achieved all three goals to the best of my ability! I said yes to a networking event where I didn’t really know anybody and I must admit that it was the best decision I’ve made! I met a lot of wonderful, interesting people and have expanded my contacts. It also gets dark early in NYC and waking up to the dark has been difficult, but that hasn’t deterred me from achieving my second goal. I have been consistently waking up at 7:30 am, even on weekends and I am extremely proud of my internal clock!

Last, but not least I wanted to limit my entertainment and tv hours. During the first few weeks, I did find it difficult to change that habit but when I started to dedicate more time to my work, I found myself less interested in television and entertainment. I’ve made a cautious decision to use my time wisely and to only absorb information that will be useful for me.

With all that being said, I’ve decided on these three goals to end 2018:

  1. Continue to work: While I understand that this time of the year should be spent with family, I also want to keep my work ethic in check and not slack off just because there’s one more month in 2018. If you truly think about it, a lot can still be accomplished within 30 days and I want to be mindful of that possibility!
  2. Make progress with my projects: There has been a secret project that I am working on and I really want to keep track with my timeline and deadlines. This differs from my first goal in that it’s specific to this project that I have in the works. It’s easy to get side tracked or simply tell myself that I’ll work on it in 2018 but I really do believe this month will be a great month to do trial and error and get feedback before going with full momentum come 2019.
  3. Enjoy Belize: I haven’t announced this yet but I am leaving to Belize next week from December 7-13 and I want to use this time to treat myself and to really reward myself for everything I’ve accomplished this year. In a way, this trip is going to be my bow tie for 2018.

All in all, I really want December to be a well balanced month of continuing to work while also enjoying my time with family and friends at home and enjoy myself in Belize. This year has been full of adventures and I will write another blog post dedicated to everything 2018 has taught me. I would love to hear how you guys are planning to end 2018!

I like your monthly goal. Such a plan will make us more motivated to do things. This month I will consciously strive to maintain good health, keep a good mood and welcome the coming of Christmas.
