I experienced the at Daphne NYC, a results driven skin studio that offers face and body treatments and services. The Biologique Recherche Essential Oils Slimming Treatment is:

"RELAX DEEPLY WHILE THIS CUSTOMIZED FULL BODY TREATMENT DRAINS AND ELIMINATES TOXINS AND EXCESS WATER, TONES AND HYDRATES YOUR SKIN, WITH THE ADDED BENEFITS OF AROMATHERAPY. THE TREATMENT STARTS WITH A GENTLE EXFOLIATION WITH LOTION P50 CORPS, THEN A SMOOTHING MASSAGE DRAINS AND STIMULATES THE SKIN USING ESSENTIAL OILS AND BOTANICAL COMPLEXES. ATTENTION IS THEN FOCUSED ON SPECIFIC AREAS ACCORDING TO INDIVIDUAL NEEDS."(60 MINUTES) $225

The Goods

Upon entering the studio, I was welcomed with a great sense of tranquility and a calming aurora and pleasant scent. It is truly a hidden gem in Soho, Manhattan. I was greeted by my esthetician, who was extremely lovely! My treatment included products from Biologique Recherche, which is a well respected line of products from Paris. All of the oils and cream that were applied to my body went on smoothly and definitely made my skin feel soft and hydrated. My esthetician began with a drainage massage around my abdominal and then proceeded to other parts of my body including my legs, arms and back. After she layered different oils and creams, I ended the treatment with a five minute body wrap to activate circulation and improve tightness and firmness of the skin. I can tell that the products are high quality and were all carefully selected for the treatment. I also felt a difference in my body and noticed my skin feeling a bit more tone and tighter the next day. It's obviously hard to tell whether it was due to the actual products or not since there are so many variables that could've affected that, but for the sake of this review, I will say I am a fan of the products used and think there could be great benefits when used more than once.

The Bads

My esthetician mentioned that this treatment is best when used consistently. It should be noted that the cost of the treatment (even though I was comped for it) is a bit pricey as it's $225 for one session. If you were to do this consistently, let's say 4x a month that is already more than $1,000. If you can afford that, then that's amazing! If not, then it's difficult to determine whether the cost is reasonable since I do think you have to commit to more than one session, On the bright side, you can buy the products from the studio so you can also use it at home and see if it's effective for yourself! I also loved the vibe of the studio but wish it was bigger because the rooms were pretty tiny and I felt a little cramped with just the bed. I do like that it's an intimate studio but just would wish the rooms had more space so my esthetician could have moved from easily from one side of the bed to the other instead of reaching over it.

Average Score

I want to reiterate that I had a wonderful experience at Daphne NYC as my overall rating for the Biologique Recherche Essentials Oils Slimming Treatment is 8.6 which is fairly high! I don’t consider the cons as off putting or would deter me from visiting again. As usual, whenever you have a treatment, you can only really make an overall judgment after a few visits. Based on my initial experience, I am interested in visiting again for either the same treatment or another one!

I think 8.6 is a pretty good review for a spa! I mean I think with anything, consistence is key but sometimes it can quite an investment with some of these nicer spas. I love going to spas once in a while as a treat 🙂

I totally agree! I tried to keep an open mind as I know it’s hard to judge a spa only on one visit but I still had a positive experience!
