CREATING CONTENT THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY

I have been on Instagram for about 10 years and that’s a decade of my life! With that being said, I’ve experienced the highs and lows of social media and have been through countless stages and phases when it comes to burn out and content creation. I am grateful for Instagram because it has connected me with a lot of beautiful people and opened doors to amazing opportunities. I have learned a lot about business, branding, entrepreneurship, and creative skills and most of them were self-taught. With all of that being said, I have done a lot of self reflection on where I am today and I am happy to say that I am at a good place, especially when it comes to how I represent myself on social media.

For the longest time, I would struggle with my Instagram feed because I felt like it was a bit everywhere. I used to spend hours curating the perfect feed and would be extremely picky, not only with individual photos, but how they look when I put them together. I do recognize the importance in having an Instagram strategy and being aware of branding, consistent messaging, etc. However, I also think from a blogger/ content creator’s point of view, feeling passionate and happy with the content you’re putting out into the world is by far the most important thing. I have stressed the importance of visuals when it comes to storytelling on Instagram, but before all of that, I have realized that I need to feel proud of what I create.

After tapping into what inspires me, I realized that it’s okay if my feed might look “messy” because this is my page, my account and a reflection of my lifestyle. I am actually so happy with how my feed looks visually because I’m all about storytelling and I truly believe my recent photos are an accurate portrayal of what makes me happy. I look at Instagram as a visual diary and mood board and my ultimate goal is for my captures to inspire others to not only live out their reality but expand their consciousness and realize that that abundance is everywhere and we are all magical.

My advice for those struggling with content creation is to take a step back or take a break. Think about what moves you, what you’re passionate about and try to create content from those place. I promise your content would be more authentic and it will align better with what fuels your soul.
