AUGUST 2019 GOALS

How are we already in the last week of July?? August is literally a few days away and that’s a bit scary because that means fall is right around the corner which also means that winter is coming! It blows my mind to think how quickly time flies by but instead of panicking, I am making a cautious decision to look at this month for what it is and not think too much ahead. Since I wrote my July goals late last month, it feels like I didn’t have time to complete them but after revisiting them, I’m happy to know that I was realistic about what I wanted to achieve this month.

I had three main goals and those included: 1) getting situated in my apartment 2) enjoy summer and my apartment 3) prepare for season 2 of my podcast, The City Confessions. I finally got my coffee table, couch and TV and I felt like those were all the essentials to make my living room cozy and comfortable. I also ordered some organizers for my room and pantry and spend this past weekend organizing with my roommate. It was a successful weekend but I had no idea how tiring it would be just to get everything properly organized. I also have a special collaboration with Rooted and I will post more about that on a future blogpost because I am obsessed with plants! I have spent my weekends enjoying the summer and being outdoors as much as possible and even threw a pizza rooftop party 🙂 And last but not least, I have three pre-recorded episodes for my podcast and that should be launching next week so stay tuned for that!

I actually really enjoy August because I feel like it’s a calming month. I know that summer doesn’t officially end until mid September but August makes me appreciate summer and it’s a great month to remind me to embrace what’s left of what feels like summer. The weather usually cools down a bit and instead of trying to rush and fill up my weekends with things to do, I feel like it requires effortless planning.

So for this month, I have come up with three simple goals for myself:

  1. See my family more: Now that I have moved to my new apartment, I haven’t seen my family as much as I did before and I want to make an effort to spend time with them. My dad’s birthday is at the end of the month so that’s already a given date of family time, but I think I want to spend more time with my sisters and specifically my niece before she returns to school. I love being independent and having my own space but I also think it’s important to pencil in family time! You never realize how much they mean to you until you see and talk to them less.
  2. Plan my next travelThe travel bug is kicking in and I want to go on a trip at the end of the month or beginning of September. I don’t think it would be anywhere international but a weekend getaway would be great. I also am leaning towards something more domestic and maybe stay along the east coast. I am trying to explore hidden gems and allowing the universe dictate that path for me!
  3. Start thinking and dreaming bigger: I’ve noticed that most of my goals are pretty action oriented, which is great because that’s how you can measure them but I haven’t really thought about having mental goals as well. If you listen to my first episode of my podcast which should be airing next week, you would have a better sense of what I’m referring to. I want to spend all of August jotting down my goals, my purpose and my why. Big things are in my horizon and I just need some careful brainstorming to achieve them!

How was your July? I think we are all busy with summer and it’s a month jam packed with events, but remember to take a step back and take it all in. Also carve out some time in your day to assess what your goals are. This not only helps you be more organized but it allows you to take more control of your life and have a better relationship with yourself and direction.

  • July just flew by and I can't believe we are already more than halfway through the year. I always look forward to your month end and future goals. You inspire me to do more too. I need to spend more "present" time with the family and we also need to plan a big vacay! You always take amazing travels and so jealous. Can't wait to see where you go next!

    • I love fall so I'm soaking August but also looking forward to September and October :)

  • That's great that getting situated into your new apartment is going well! I love the goal of writing down your goals and purpose. It's so important sometimes to get everything out of your head and on paper. Wishing you all the best with your August goals, and both of these outfits are so cute!

  • So beautiful, love the top and the dress! I was just thinking about that too the other day, every year goes faster than the last one, it's crazy! I really do not set myself goals but more like tasks that are an every day thing instead. :)

Have a lovely and happy weekend!
    XO, Melissa

    • I do daily tasks as well but it's also great for me to set my priorities for the month :)

  • Such a nice casual outfit with the jeans and I love the floral dress on you, great for summer with the straw bag! :) I have the same one in black! :)

Well done on getting organised and settled in, hope you manage to achieve your upcoming goals you have planned too, they sound fun!

Hope that you are having a lovely weekend :) http://awayfromtheblue.blogspot.com

  • You go girl! I'm glad that you have your living room all settled. I'm excited for your new podcasts!!! My goal for August is to hit the gym more often and to finish the decoration of the bedrooms. Btw I'm in love with those pictures.

    • Yay so excited for your bedroom decoration. It's going to be so much fun :)
