Approved Mom Travel Outfits for Airport & Transit (9 Fully Shoppable Items)

by Mariann Yip

Mom travel outfits have one job: keep you comfortable through every chaotic moment of getting somewhere, the car seat buckles, the security line, the gate delay, the toddler who decides they need to be carried, while still making you feel like yourself when you arrive.

That’s a tall order. But it’s absolutely doable.

I’ve curated a full ShopMy collection of mom travel outfits (Airport & Transit) with everything I actually reach for before a trip. Nine pieces, all thoughtfully chosen, all linked here. Here’s how I’d put them together and why every single one earned its spot.

What Makes a Great Mom Travel Outfit?

A few non-negotiable before we get into the looks:

Stretch is everything. You are going to crouch, lift, bend, and chase. Anything with zero give is going to be miserable by hour two.

Pockets matter more than you think. Boarding passes, snacks, a small toy, having a pocket means one less thing to dig through your bag for.

Layers are your best friend. Planes are cold. Terminals are hot. Rental cars are unpredictable. A layer you can tie around your waist or stuff in your bag is always worth the space.

You should still feel like you. This is the part that often gets left out of practical mom travel advice. Looking put-together on a travel day is not vanity , it genuinely affects how you feel, and how you feel affects how you parent on a hard day.

The 9 Pieces in My Mom Travel Outfits Collection

The Foundation: Tops

SKIMS Cotton Jersey T-Shirt: The base of everything. Soft, slightly stretchy, and elevated enough to not look like you grabbed the first thing off the floor. Tuck it into the Everywhere Pant or wear it loose under the hoodie, it works either way.

Breathe Easy Ribbed Cropped Hoodie: This is the layer you’ll reach for every single time. Ribbed texture makes it look intentional, the crop length keeps it from feeling bulky, and the “breathe easy” fabrication means you won’t overheat in the terminal. Pairs perfectly with both pant options in this collection.

Retreat Linen Top: When you want something a little more polished than a tee,  the linen top is the move. It looks put-together without any effort, travels without wrinkling badly, and photographs well at every stop. Great for shorter travel days or road trips where the destination matters.

The Bottoms: Two Ways

ENZA COSTA Everywhere Pant: The name says it all. A wide-leg silhouette in a fabric that drapes beautifully, moves with you, and looks like a real outfit instead of an afterthought. This is the pant for flights and longer travel days — pair with the SKIMS tee and the Breathe Easy Hoodie for the easiest complete look in the collection.

Seasoft Mid Rise Straight Pant: For a slightly more casual, relaxed feel,  the Seasoft is the road trip pant. Soft, comfortable through a long drive, and the straight cut is flattering enough that you won’t feel like you gave up. Works with both tops for a matching-set vibe.

The Shoes

100% Leather Everyday Sneaker: The only shoe you need on a travel day. Leather means it looks polished even in an airport; the everyday sneaker silhouette means you can walk miles without thinking about it. Slip-on or quick-lace styles are ideal for security. These photograph cleanly with every outfit in the collection.

The Bags

Gesso Tote: Your carry-on companion. A structured, neutral tote that holds everything: snacks, tablets, your own actual belongings, without looking like a diaper bag. The clean silhouette means it works with every look in this collection and elevates the whole outfit.

BEIS 6 Piece Compression Packing Cubes:  Not technically an outfit piece, but absolutely part of a great travel look, because when your bag is organized, you’re calmer, and calm energy shows. These compression cubes changed my packing completely. Everything fits, nothing gets wrinkled, and you can actually find things at 6am.

The Luggage Starter Set: Because the right luggage pulls the whole travel look together. Matching, structured, in a neutral that works with everything. This is the set I recommend to anyone starting fresh or wanting to upgrade. It photographs beautifully and is built for actual travel with kids.

My Favorite Combinations from This Collection

Final Thoughts

The best mom travel outfits are the ones that let you be fully present on the trip, not adjusting your waistband, not sweating through a synthetic fabric, not wishing you’d packed differently. Every piece in this collection was chosen because it does exactly that.
