MY BABY SHOWER

I had my baby shower a few weeks ago and it was everything I could dream of and more! Since I am having a baby boy, I went for a forest woodland theme. And since it’s winter, I decided to go for the color green, instead of the traditional and typical blue. For those who don’t know, I am pregnant and this pregnancy wasn’t planned. My journey is for another day and another post, but this year surprised me in ways that I never imagined. 2022 was a year of transformation, expansion and miracles. And for that, I am so grateful for what it’s brought me and what it’s taught me.

BABY SHOWER DECOR

I am lucky to have a strong support system of people who love me because I was showered and spoiled at my baby shower. My friends and family helped set everything up and the decor was simple, yet perfect. When I envisioned my shower, I knew I wanted sage green balloons with gold.  we bought the decoration kit on Amazon. (I will say if you plan on doing something similar, definitely get a balloon pump and an arch to make the setup easier!) As for the party favors, we went for these baby footprint keychains, which also serves as a bottle opener. Make sure you also have a speaker for music and entertainment. Aside from those essentials, the venue itself was spacious enough and already had a rustic feel that I didn’t need to any additional decor.

BABY SHOWER GAMES

My friend Selma set up the baby shower games, which consisted of:

  • Guess the mama to be belly size
  • Mom or Dad: a series of questions of who’s more likely in baby scenarios
  • Baby Bingo
  • Create a diaper on a partner using toilet paper
  • Relay race with adult diaper and bib to feed partner with baby bottle
  • Mom vs dad in changing baby diaper

I truly believe the games make up the majority of the baby shower. It was my personal favorite part. And I noticed that all the guests were entertained since they can choose to either participate or observe in the fun.

BABY SHOWER FOOD

We had catered Spanish food from a local restaurant that my partner and I loved. Again, it was very simple which consisted of rice, beans, chicken and salad. There were no complaints and I feel like the simpler the food, the better. We were able to wrap up the shower with a beautiful dessert display and cake that my friend Selma organized. I highly recommend including dessert at a baby shower because it was a great way to end it. And let’s be honest, who can say no to sweets?!

OVERALL THOUGHTS

I want to reiterate the love that I felt during my baby shower. My partner and I are so blessed and grateful for our friends and family who attended. It really does take a village to raise a baby and we know we are very lucky in that aspect. Our spare room is filled with boxes and gifts and we will be officially turning it to a nursery come 2023. I have to admit that I am anxious, overwhelmed, and emotional about pregnancy coming to an end and the thought of giving birth. At the same time, I am excited, hopeful, joyful and filled with so much gratitude. I can’t wait to meet you baby boy!
